It's Just Sad
I know you all are waiting with baited breath to find out if we got a communication book. Well the answer is yes, but the story doesn't end there. First, we got the book on Thursday night. It was empty. The was a general note that stated that she would be writing in it once a week. OK . . . The good part was it was in a marked folder. There was a sticker on the front that was SUPPOSED to have Lauren's name on it. The last name was spelled WRONG. If you remember, she had her last year. Even if she didn't remember her from last year OR summer school, didn't she have a list. I told Lauren to point it out to her and she corrected it. I check and she didn't even bother to remove the old tag, she just put the new one on top. NICE. CLASSY. Of course I checked the book Friday night and it still was empty. So much for good communication skills. I don't mean to be really mean, but Brandon has had his communication book since day one and it has been written in EVERY day. So now I wait to see if she will write next week.

Can you physically go and talk to the teacher or perhaps even pick Lauren up from school and not leave until the book is signed? I had problems with my son and his book too but I told the assistant how incredibly important it was to know what was going on so we could monitor the meds and such and I don't know if that did it or not but he started writing in it. I also thanked him generously afterwards. A little sucking up doesn't hurt!
Or can you ask WHAT the problem is (nicely) and HOW you could help ensure that book gets written in? I made my OWN book... perhaps you could custom make a page and bring it in saying "would this style of communication make it any easier to get some feedback? I can appreciate how busy things are for you and I want to make this work for both of us."
See, I'm a teacher too so I can see both sides!
Did you look at the sample communicate page on my blog? You could just print it straight off if you like it.
Good luck and thanks for stopping by my blog.
